NousLogic Telehealth
A closed loop, not a video call. Sense what is happening, carry it out of the house, act on it, and put it in front of the person who can do something about it. He founded the company more than ten years ago and it has been building toward that loop ever since.
A patient sees a doctor for twenty minutes and then goes home for three months. Whatever happens in those three months is invisible. Not because it cannot be measured, but because nobody is measuring.
That is a measurement problem. The signal is there, in a heartbeat, in a dose that was never taken, in a walk that has changed. What is missing is the instrument, the link that carries it out of the house, and something patient enough to watch for months and speak only when it matters.
Forty years of measuring things that are hard to measure, in spectrum analyzers and printers and television chips, turns out to be the right preparation for exactly this. The platform that came out of it is documented in full at nousrpm.com.

What the patch and the cabinet read goes back the same way, over cellular where there is no home internet, so a missed dose and a changed rhythm reach the clinic while there is still time to act on them.
The patch reads a single lead ECG continuously, and it pairs with either the phone or the cabinet, so a patient who does not carry a smartphone still reports. It is under an ongoing FDA application.
Teaching a machine to read a heartbeat
A single lead ECG carries more than a rhythm. Reading it well, at scale, takes a model trained on more records than any one hospital holds.
NousLogic joined the Mayo Clinic Platform_Accelerate cohort in February 2026, with access to millions of de-identified ECG records and the clinical notes that go with them. The work is a multimodal cardiovascular foundation model, aimed at ECG interpretation that is both more accurate and more scalable than a rules based reading.
The point is not a better report. It is that the reading can happen wherever the patch is, which moves the whole loop from care centred on a hospital to care that lives with the patient.

Eye-AI moves that screening into the primary care room, and the result comes back in under a minute. A specialist does not have to be there: the console streams the live camera view and its controls to an ophthalmologist working somewhere else, so a session in a rural clinic can be run, or supervised, from an office hours away.
He collaborates on it with his sister, Dr. Trinh Nhu, and a team of UC Irvine alumni that includes an ophthalmologist and an AI scientist. Eye-AI screens. A clinician reads the result and makes the call.

Giving back
He and his sister endowed a fund at UC Irvine, and the school named its Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EECS) Department after him.
On December 17, 2025, Hoang Nhu and his sister, Dr. Trinh Nhu, pledged a transformational gift to UC Irvine’s Samueli School of Engineering. It established the Nhu Family Endowed Fund, a permanent and flexible source of support, and in recognition the department was named the Hoang Nhu Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. The naming ceremony was held on February 20, 2026.
The department serves nearly 1,700 students across AI, robotics, wireless communications, embedded systems, circuits and devices, bioelectronics and computer architecture. It is the part of the university where hardware and software are designed together, which is the discipline his own career was built on, and it is pointed at what UCI calls an AI-everywhere direction.
He has served on the school’s Dean’s Leadership Council since November 2025.

The clearest measure of a career is not what it built. It is what it makes possible for people who were not there.
The missions
Operation of Light is a humanitarian eye care mission at Hue Central Hospital, Facility 2, carried out with ophthalmologists from UC Irvine. It holds free community eye screenings alongside about 150 sight restoring cataract surgeries, and a smaller number of corneal and oculoplastic procedures, over six days in September 2026.
His sister, Dr. Trinh Nhu, is among the operating surgeons. NousLogic is contributing the retinal imaging and AI screening equipment, and sending the engineers who built it.
Two years earlier, in November 2024, the same instinct produced a free community health screening in Westminster, California, run with an AstraZeneca mobile clinic. Blood pressure, ECG and retinal screening, in a parking lot, for anyone who walked up.
Different scale, same idea: go to where people already are, look before anything hurts, and pay for it yourself.
That is what the giving is for. A department at UC Irvine, so the next engineer gets the training he got. A week in Hue, so somebody keeps their sight. Neither one is a product, and neither is meant to come back.
